Let’s
Book! is
the theme of the 85th celebration of Children’s
Book Week during which young people are introduced to new
authors and ideas through books. The Children’s
Book Council is the official national sponsor of
Children’s Book Week, which has been observed by booksellers,
educators, librarians, and parents during the week before
Thanksgiving since 1919.

On
Saturday November 20th, radio
free hamptons and Diaspora
Books will host a Book Fair featuring multicultural
and bilingual children’s books from 10am to 4pm.
The books chosen for the Fair come from a variety of
publishers and booklists, include some Coretta Scott King
Award & Honor Books as well as titles on the African-American
Read-in lists, and range from pre-school to young adult
titles.

A
favorite book for young children is Running
the Road to ABC, illustrated by Reynold
Ruffins who received a Coretta Scott King Honor
Book Award for his work. Mr. Ruffins, a Sag Harbor resident,
will be on-hand at 2pm to give an Internet radio interview on radiofreehamptons.net
on his experience illustrating children’s books.

addition, rfh owner Reggie
Woolery’s collection of finely illustrated children’s books
will be on display. radio
free hamptons is located in Sag Harbor at 31 Long
Island Avenue, down from the post office.
